Under the direct supervision of the Chief Technical Director (Industry Portfolio), the Director- Industry, manages and directs all the operations of the Industry portfolio through strategic planning, drafting and reviewing of policies, implementing policy initiatives, and supervision of the Division’s human and financial resources to achieve the Division’s and Ministry’s goals and objectives.
Under the supervision of the Board of Directors the Director General is responsible for: the regulation of activities, practices, apparatuses and facilities involving ionizing radiation and nuclear technology, and for directing the technical activities of the operations of the Hazardous Substances Regulatory Authority (HSRA). The incumbent is also responsible to make recommendations to the Board concerning safety standards, regulatory practices and other related matters.
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Plant Breeding Officer, the Senior Plant Breeding Officer plays a technical and coordinating role in the area of plant breeding research. The Senior Plant Breeder assists the Chief Plant Breeder with the development and implementation of research, training, scientific and technical knowledge dissemination, and in the evaluation and implementation of technical cooperation to meet the national food security goals.
Under the direct supervision of the Permanent Secretary, the Chief Technical Director (GMG/CTD 1)) provides strategic and technical support to the office of the Permanent Secretary by leading and managing the technical arms/operations (industry, commerce and trade) of the Ministry towards the development and attainment of the goals of the priority areas and imperatives approved in accordance with the mandate of the Ministry. The position forms a critical part of the technical capability of the senior management tier in the Ministry as it seeks to lend support towards research, project monitoring and evaluation and definition of the scope, reach and impact of the effectiveness of the Ministry’s portfolio.
